Immunovia joins ”Light it purple” initiative on World Pancreatic Cancer Day

November 21, 2019 marks World Pancreatic Cancer Day (WPCD), when all of us around the world should raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer, which currently has the lowest survival rate of any cancer. The symptoms of pancreatic cancer can be vague and non-specific. As a result, pancreatic cancer is typically not diagnosed until it is too late, resulting in poor outcomes, with just 5-8% of patients surviving 5 years after diagnosis.

Since the creation of World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition (WPCC) and World Pancreatic Cancer Day, Immunovia has been joining all the efforts to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer around the globe. Also this year Immunovia honors World Pancreatic Cancer Day and sponsors different activities in collaboration with regional patient associations in Sweden, USA/Canada, UK, Spain and Germany.

Looking back at WPCD 2016-2019

We have brought together the voices of patient associations, patients and Key Opinion Leaders into a movie covering the three latest contributions of Immunovia’s pancreatic cancer awareness initiatives. The movie will be released on World Pancreatic Cancer Day on our dedicated website: www.worldpancreaticcancerday.se and on www.immunovia.com.

Immunovia participated in the 5km run for pancreatic cancer organized by ACANPAN, the Spanish patient association with pancreatic cancer, on November the 10th 2019 (Carrera de las ciudades contra el cáncer de páncreas – http://carreracancerpancreas.es). So far, in the various editions, 25,655 people have participated in 6 different cities, running for 146,214 km and raising 355,000 EUR for research in pancreatic cancer.

In collaboration with World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition Immunovia has created a dedicated website in Spanish to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.

During the 6. Welt-Pankreaskrebstag (World Pancreatic Cancer Day) in Ludwigsburg, Germany, organized by TEB e.V. Selbsthilfe (one of the German patient associations), Immunovia will participate in the podium discussion “New ways, Chances, Hope” and raise the importance of early detection in pancreatic cancer, together with other representatives from research, pharma industry, physicians, health insurance, politicians and patient organizations.
